In Pripyat, the Ferris wheel was scheduled to open to the public on May 1st, 1986, during the Soviet May Day festivities.
It was built to bring joy and laughter to the families of the young city.
But fate intervened: just days earlier, reactor number 4 of the Chernobyl power plant exploded, turning that promise of celebration into a memory that never came to be.
Today, the Ferris wheel stands as a haunting symbol of a broken future, frozen in time and memory.
