In the 1980s, Pripyat was a model Soviet city.
Its avenues were wide, its apartment blocks modern, and its playgrounds always filled with children.
The swings, like the ones in this image, echoed with the laughter of the young, unaware of what was to come.
Today they remain as silent symbols of a broken childhood and of a city that turned into an abandoned place, swallowed by time and memory.
