The video shows a Soviet military helicopter flying over Reactor No. 4 of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, heavily damaged by the April 26, 1986 explosion. Smoke still rises from the core, evidence of the devastation and ongoing meltdown. These helicopters were used in the immediate aftermath to drop sand, lead, and boron onto the reactor in a desperate attempt to contain the radiation.
